Before you even say it, it is not a spelling error. It is just a pun. The reason for this is that I am quite impressed by a firm of the same name, http://www.conkers.co.uk/.
I appreciate if you haven't heard of this firm you may be considering that the writer has lost the plot. But no, I am still in control of my marbles (just) and have great news for all of you who have ever owned a credit card, bank account or pretty much any other financial product.
Conkers are claim specialists. They have breached a portion of the financial market in the U.K which involves a recent legislation about unfair penalty charges. So in a nut shell if you have ever been charged for a letter, been charged for late payment or even charged for using your overdraft you have a right to get this money back.
The fee is a considerable 25% of the amount they can win for you in compensation. Though, if like me you've spent most of your life donating to bank xmas parties year in year out, it is still a good deal. I recently applied to them and honestly thought it would be a waste of time. I can report to being pleasantly surprised. My first 'success' has come through and without any form of hassle or problems. The downside has been that the compensation has been taken off my present balance with my Credit card issuer. This has taken the edge off slightly, but if I'm honest, it does stop me from spending it on booze.
I would advise you to proceed with a word of warning. I was under the impression that http://www.conkers.co.uk/ would remove their fee from the compensation. However this is not the case. As I have explained above I recieved the full amount. It was, as you can imagine, a surprise to be invoiced for a figure 25% of my untangible compensation. It has indeed made me feel a little deflated. I appreciate that on a mathematical / logical / sensible level this is still all balanced but as a simple person, it still feels like I'm paying for nothing.
Do not be put off. DO NOT BE PUT OFF! My personal approach to money cannot be a slur on their excellent, well timed and brilliant service. They are without doubt a hero to any of the massed consumer public who have in one way or another been subjected to fines. So stand strong against the 'capitalist pigs' that have previously bled you dry and get what you are owed back.
On a side note, whilst writing this little snippet of my thoughts, it appears to me that this money is owed to each and every one of us. It has been in essence stolen from us by the financial institutions. So how come the banks have not been made to provide this service for free?
